Che on porcelain and cotton

An excellent article on how we have co-opted Che Guevara into our materialistic lifestyle even while considering it to be a symbol of uber-cool or of rebellion which unfortunately we seem to have lost the guts for.

The guy who said that it was the picture of Jesus on his T-shirt can be forgiven for his utter ignorance but those of us who try to find some reflected glory or feeling of being different by having the face of Che nearby are and should be an object of pity. For those of us who are even dimly aware of what he stood for and yet sport 'Che memorabilia' are guilty of hammering nails into his beliefs and his dreams.

Here then is the article written on his 80th anniversary. (published in Mail Today on June 13 2008).
